Words by Deejay Theory

Last week fellow #MixtapeMondays contributor DJ Autograph dropped off a special mix in appreciation of everything Sean Paul. This week it’s back to business, but make sure you peep The History of Sean Paul Chapter 1 in case you missed it!

Angela Hunte, R.A.W. Mixtape: LargeUp recently checked in with the very talented miss Angela Hunte – an artist you need to familiarize yourself with quick if you haven’t already. The Brooklyn/Trini native boasts an impressive list of credits throughout hip hop, pop, reggae, dancehall and soca, but now she’s finally shared her debut solo album entitled R.A.W in a roots rock reggae style. To make the occasion even more official, Miami’s dEVOLVE compiled this mixtape background of the diverse catalog and mind of one of the baddest singer/songwriters in the game today. Get familiar below.

Neil Nice, Reggae Showcase Selections – Nuff Respect Peter Dante: This one is in tribute courtesy of selector Neil Nice from Well Versatile Sound inna BK. In full respect to one of his musical mentors DJ Peter Dante from Rhode Island, Neil pulls up dusty classics and rarites inna Peter Dante style paired with crucial vocal drops from Peter’s personal collection dating back to early 80’s. Peter’s radio show “The Reggae Showcase” still runs every Sunday from 2-5pm EST at wriu.org.

Femme Fatale Sound, Vicey: The Official Soca 2K17 Miami Carnival Send Off Mix: Wrapping things up with some carnival soca energy thanks to Keisha Cassette from Boston/Brooklyn’s Femme Fatale Sound. Keisha has been all over the LargeUp IG lately moggling her carnival – and laundry day – aesthetics, but this time around she’s taken it behind the boards to give you this megamix of all the best in modern soca following this year’s Miami Carnival. Plenty of 2017 favorites on here to get you wining in no time. Check it here.
