For this week’s Selector’s Choice, we head back to Brooklyn to catch up with Mixpak Records founder Dre Skull. Best known for his production work with the likes of Popcaan and Vybz Kartel, among others, you can also occasionally find him behind the decks with the Mixpak Sound System.

Large Up! This is Dre Skull from Mixpak Records checking in with few recent songs that have found their way into my crates. I’m just back from a great trip to Kingston where I was working on Popcaan’s next album — and managed to get in a few extra sessions with J Capri and Gyptian, too. As always, it was a real inspiration to be in Jamaica, going to dances, listening to the radio and vibing in the studio with artists I respect and who inspire me.

Vybz Kartel – Credit Alone Done
Vybz Kartel keeps forever bringing the hits and this one is one of a string of his new tracks that gets spun every time I play.

Dexta Daps – 7Eleven
Dexta Daps has had a real breakout year and this Troyton Music-produced track is, at it’s core, a great pop song.

Madd Again – Duggu
This Zed Bias-produced cut from Madd Again’s three MCs – Killa Benz, Trigga and Specialist Moss – feels both like a classic and right on time for a peak time set in 2015. Great vibe!

Busy Signal – Text Message
Busy found a hit on this Whatsapp alert-sampling production and, just from the intro alone, it’s guaranteed to get stuck in your head.

Palmistry – Memory Taffeta
This is Palmistry’s third single on Mixpak and, as both a producer and vocalist, he’s really found his own space exploring dancehall-inflected pop.

Mavado – Up Like 7
Mavado’s got one on the Wrangla Riddim (produced By Yellow Moon Records). Up like seven, up like seven. We run the place 24/7.
