Philipsburg, St. Martin

Coming up over the first weekend in June is the Saint Martin Book Fair, an event that features local writers as well as an assortment of arts-related events and workshops. The opening ceremony, held in the island’s beachfront Princess Juliana Airport, celebrates the release of a collection of short stories by local author Lasana M. Sekou, entitled Love Songs Make You Cry. Saint Martin is a multi-lingual island, so naturally, the featured literature is as well, as authors from around the Caribbean and around the world gather to share their work. Alongside the literary events are concerts and film screenings, all free and open to the public.
