Bashment Bible: How + Where to Party at Notting Hill Carnival

August 23, 2012

Words by Jesse Serwer—

Headed to London for Notting Hill Carnival this weekend? You’ll find no shortage of entertainment to choose from, that’s for sure. Every year, Time Out London puts together a super-comprehensive guide to the parade and attendant festivities, and this time they’ve produced a handy carnival map with the locations of 37 participating sound systems, as well as nearby Tube stops and party-hosting pubs:

They’ve also got an extensive list of warm-up and after-parties which you can see here, but here’s our short list of LargeUp-approved fetes.

Sunday, Aug. 26: David Rodigan x The Heatwave party. For the third consecutive year, Ram Jam and The Heatwave will join forces, and take over Electric Brixton (the club formerly known as The Fridge).

Monday, Aug. 27: Orange Hill All-Dayer. Holding down the decks alongside Orange Hill’s Ras Kwame and Jnr. Tubby are Robbo Ranx, The Heatwave, Toddla T, and our own DJ Gravy and Walshy Fire, while the list of microphone dons includes Stylo G, YT and more. The all-day party (hence the name) is invite only and going down in a top-secret location, but follow @OHP Music on Twitter to win a pair of VIP wristbands and check their Facebook page for updates.

Mon. Aug. 26: Red Bull Music Academy x Major Lazer Tent. For their fifth annual Notting Hill soiree, an event that has become perhaps the biggest. Major Lazer have tapped their biggest lineup yet, with Sean Paul, David Rodigan, Hudson Mohawke, Lil Silva and, most interestingly, Dre Skull featuring Machel Montano. The party is free but, unless you’ve got a connect, you’ll need to enter to win tickets tomorrow, August 24, at 10am (BST), at www.redbull.co.uk/carnival.
