July 30, 2012

Words by DJ Theory—

Monday has shown it’s head again, which can only mean that new mixes await you here at LargeUp. Dancehall, culture, moombahton, trap, tropical bass, all spice up the pot this week with heat from Miami x  Italy, NYC and Kingston. Catch a vibe below.

Kalibandulu x Eccentrix Sound, Summer Party Promo Mix:  Big thing for summer from Italian powerhouses Kalibandulu and Miami badmen Eccentrix Sound.  We’re never mad at summer mixes, especially when they’re prepared as proper as this. With these two sounds at the controls, expect some big drops and exclusives, turned up with a maddd selection of current dancehall bizness. This remix CD is built around custom dancehall remixes, blends and dubs, flipped with some rap hits for good measure, custom freestyles and a bit of EDM. If for some reason your summer is off to a slow start this should get you sorted with the quickness.  Stream below, download here.

*Bonus – Eccentrix also just a put out an all-Bounty Killer remix / dubplate mix, obviously had to include that in here as well.  Peeeeople dead.  Stream and download below:

DJ Tanner, Puerto Rico Tour Mix: My dude DJ Tanner (the man responsible for the Top Of The World remix EP) hit me with this mix to hype up his upcoming tour to Puerto Rico. Newly rebranded as TannerMusic.tv, the Vancity original has taken his talents to NYC now, and definitely brings the heat with this mix.  Leading off with a Buju Banton trap remix from yours truly (grab it here) the mix flows into a few more big remixes in the same vein before bubbling into dancehall, moombahton and madd tropical bass vibez for the remainder. Another moombahton remix from your boy in there, as well as some Tanner-produced originals.  Well-rounded mixtape fire right here.  Stream and download below, tracklist here.

XTM.Nation, Project X: The Mixtape: Keeping the legacy of Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell alive and well, the newly rebranded XTM.Nation (formerly Xterminator Records) present their first mixtape, with their own one-drop rhythms and productions as the focus. Brilliant producer, Xterminator records boss, and mentor to countless Jamaican artists and youths, Fatis made his mark on reggae music and culture in a major way, and XTM.Nation give the dada a full salute with this project to celebrate his earthstrong. Original Xterminator productions mixed with riddims from the new generation make this an old-to-the-new endeavor that keeps the conscious summer vibes a fine way. Stream below, download here.
