Blowin’ (Collie Herb) in the Wind: Ziggy Marley Covers Bob… Dylan?

February 6, 2012

Ziggy Marley paid tribute to a musical legend named Bob on Late Night with David Letterman this past Friday but, this time, it wasn’t his own father. Instead, Bob Marley’s eldest son was on the talk show to promote the charity album Chimes of Freedom: Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International (out today) with his cover of Dylan’s 1963 classic, “Blowin’ In the Wind.” Coming from Mr. Marijuaman himself, it kinda gives the protest-themed folk song a whole new meaning, doesn’t it?

In other Ziggy news, the singer recently launched a show, Ziggy Marley’s Legends of Reggae, on Sirius XM Radio’s The Joint (Ch. 42) station. The monthly show premiered last night, on the eve of the birthday of his late father, Bob Marley, at 12:00 pm ET with guest, Jimmy Cliff. The show rebroadcasts today at 5 pm ET, and Friday, February 10 at 6 pm ET.
