2. Denzel Washington in The Mighty Quinn and Anansi
Denzel’s range is unparalleled–he’s earned widespread acclaim for playing everyone from inspiring leaders (Cry Freedom and Malcolm X) to cruel sociopaths (Training Day and American Gangster). But, for his roles as a Jamaican police chief in The Mighty Quinn (above) and narrator of a 1991 cartoon series based on the Anansi folktale (watch here), it sounds like his entire preparation consisted of a trip to Golden Krust. The outcome is particularly disappointing for someone with a name as Jamaican-sounding as “Denzel.”
