Fashion Fridays: Clientele’s All-Jamaican Summer Line

Its brick-and-mortar sneaker store on Lafayette Street in Soho is long gone, but New York City streetwear institution Clientele still lives on. The brand has done reggae/dancehall-inspired designs in the past and collaborated with Sizzla, but they went “full” Jamaican for their Summer 2011 line, taking inspiration from Peter Tosh’s Legalize It, soundman business, the Randy’s affiliated Impact! label, etc. The centerpiece of the line, and the current motif for their website, is a Lion of Judah rendered in an 8-bit style.
